1921 Hudson Building - Cushing, OK

With a last name of 'Hudson' I could not pass up this building. It is a little rough but it is a large building taking up street to alley occupation of its lots. Just what this building housed and who built it are unknown at present. It is located just off the main downtown streets, in an areas that would have once been THE main entry into the downtown.  I can close my eyes and see it restored with heart and creativity to become apartments, office space, etc.

Searching for other mentions of 'Hudson", however, bring up the Hudson Oil Company begun by a woman in 1933 in Missouri. From this start emerged The Hudson Oil Refinery. This refinery was,  according to some sources, the last to withdraw from Cushing after the first initial bloom of the boom began to fade.  In a most definate man's world arena, Mary Hudson carved out an empire. Here is a link to a story about founder Mary Hudson.

A ride down memory lane is made possible via this video showing the refinery in Cushing in 1991.
