Congratulations to Payne County Students

Partnering with The Oklahoma Alliance for Arts Education, State Superintendent Joy Hofmeister, the Oklahoma State Department of Education, and the Masonic Fraternity of Oklahoma,   the 29th Annual State Superintendent Awards for Arts Excellence 2019 presented awards to students, faculty, and administrators deemed 'best of the best'.

·         Kaedyn Wright, Cushing High School, Vocal Music
·        Kaylee Smith, Stillwater High School,  Instrumental Music
Categories were Dance, Drama/Theater, Instrumental Music, Piano, Visual Art, and Vocal Music. Students from across the state had been nominated and selected for this prestigious award.

"This special recognition," notes the State Department of Education website, " is given to high school juniors and seniors who meet certain criteria and excel in dance, music, theatre, and visual art. ...In addition, we recognize fine arts educators, school administrators, and school boards who exhibit leadership, support quality arts education, and demand academic excellence in Oklahoma schools."

Held in the magnificent and historic Scottish Rite Temple in historic Guthrie, Oklahoma, April 23, 2019, students, families, teachers, and administrators were received with a reception, art display and then presentation of the awards for individuals whose work and contributions demonstrate the value and impact of the arts in lives and the state.
