Hidden Memorials

In the Cushing City Park there are some hidden memorials. The square memorial reads: "In memory of all who served in World War Two. Erected by American War Mother's Club 1949."  The second one - the cross - reads "V.F.W. Post 1118. Dedicated to veterans of all wars." They sit on a rose, shaded by tall trees sandwiched between the vitality and joy of childhood playgrounds and sparkling laughter filled public pool. Nestled there, the 'might-have-beens' are especially poignant. Sitting as they do where new generations run and play it is hoped they serve as a guidepost about the seriousness of war, the importance of courage, and the eternal love of families and friends. A lesson worth learning by everyone regardless of age.
